Do I need a license to perform Body Sculpting?

In many states, a state license is not required to perform non-invasive body sculpting treatments. However, it's essential to note that regulations vary, and some states do have specific requirements.

  • Colorado (CO): Colorado residents must hold a Cosmetologist or Esthetician license or be a licensed medical professional. More information can be found here.

  • Nevada (NV): Check licensing services here. Refer to Nevada legislation SB291 for detailed information.

  • Washington (WA): Individuals offering services related to cosmetology, hair design, barber, manicurist, esthetician, or master esthetician in Washington must be licensed by the Department of Licensing (DOL). More info can be found here.

  • Oregon (OR): Advanced estheticians are required in Oregon; details can be found here.

  • Utah (UT): Refer to Utah legislation here and apply for a license here.

  • Virginia (VA): Access Virginia regulations here and information on getting licensed here.

  • Washington DC: To earn licensure as an esthetician in Washington DC, completion of a 600-hour esthetics program through a licensed school is required. Review regulations here and find an esthetician school here.

  • Florida: Performing radio frequency and cavitation in Florida requires a "license to touch." Additional information can be found here.

In most other states, the procedure can be performed by various professionals, including Nurses, Physician Assistants, Estheticians, and Medical Assistants, with proper training from accredited companies. It's crucial to check your state regulations, as this information serves as a general resource.
